Georges St-Pierre thought about quitting in the days when he was not the hammer, but the nail, back when he was 22 and trained for the first time at Renzo Gracie's gym in New York:

I decided train at Renzo Gracie's academy, I got my ass kicked so bad that at one point I was so discouraged that I wanted to let everything go. But I kept going there because I always believed in the bottom of my heart that it was going to make me a better fighter and one day I would be able to gain from it.
