Greg Jackson on being comfortable being uncomfortable

Greg Jackson is a master strategist and widely regarded as the best MMA coach in the world.

He feels getting into situations in training where you're uncomfortable makes you very much at ease with these situations. It gets to the point where you're okay with whatever takes place in the cage and you can just flow effortlessly and fight to your peak level of performance during competition. It also alleviates the fear of these situations in combat and releasing that anxiety allows one to not push on their mental emergency brake; so one can go out and just execute all techniques which have been trained in a calm and relaxed manner.

What separates Georges? I would say it's his work ethic, his diligent work ethic. His discipline. He will do anything to be the best, for what the price is, he's going to pay. Doesn't matter how hard, whatever sacrifice it is, he's willing to do it.

Jon Jones on being prepared

Jon Jones has a lot of natural talent, works hard, has a great team, and is a smart fighter. However, it is not only those four attributes which make him such a special talent, it's also because he is insanely prepared for every battle. He spends hours upon hours dissecting video footage of his opponents and analyzing everything about them. That passionate approach to studying his opponent has paid off many-fold in his mixed martial arts career on route to becoming the greatest light-heavyweight in UFC history.

Jones channels the spirit of Sun Tzu, legendary military strategist and author of the Art of War and owner of this quote: Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.

"Every time I watch a fight I pick up something different. I just like to study. There's a quote that says, 'If you know yourself and you know your opponent, you shouldn't fear the results of 100 battles.' Just really being prepared gives you a lot of confidence."
