"I don't think about the next round, I don't think about the next punch, I don't think about anything except the present moment. And that's all that really matters. If you take care of what's happening at the moment—same thing in life, it's all a metaphor for life—you take care of the moment and then the next thing will take care of itself." —Matt Brown

"The awesome thing about this sport is you see all sides of yourself, see the deepest inner-workings of yourself. It all comes out at some point or another. "That's really what's important to me: living for the moment and making this moment count. I liken it to the old saying about missing the forest for the trees. Well, I do the opposite. It was described perfectly in the movie 300 in the wolf scene and again at the ending. “It’s not fear that grips him, but restlessness. A heightened sense of things.” I can’t describe it any better.

Matt Brown on Aliens, God, and Religion
UFC welterweight Matt Brown's take on belief:
I don't believe or not believe in aliens. I'm the same way with religion and God. I have no reason to believe and no reason not to believe. If I don't see something for myself, then I'm not going to believe it. At the same time, we're such a small speck in the universe, there's no reason not to believe that there might be something else out there.
