Spiritual presence is found as we say a deep “Yes” to the messiness and unpleasantness that come with a dying body, and living with the situation with as much grace as possible. This is the way to compassion. It is a willingness to be with the dying, in body, heart and spirit, and treat them with dignity regardless of the situation.
