Coming from a traditional martial arts background in Karate, Lyoto Machida brings a highly respectful attitude towards his opponents. Machida knows that without his opponent he wouldn't have an avenue to show his skills:
Doesn't matter if you win or if you lost you have to be humble...Don't change just because the crowd...You first have to respect your opponent because they give you a chance to for you...to show your work.
