There's no shame in saying that the best female athlete in one sport would win against a man who does not compete in said sport. The term "fighting" confuses a lot of people who don't watch MMA, so that tends to craze non-MMA fans. If you said the best female Triathlete would defeat the best male marathoner (who only trains in running) in a triathlon, that would not be perceived as a very shocking statement to the masses. But "fighting" has a lot of different associations that come with it. MMA is called "fighting", but it's a competition or sport. So if the layman looks at it from that perspective you won't need to have a shocked reaction to this statement.
