Michael Bisping and Mark Munoz set to fight in Manchester

Michael Bisping will take on Mark Munoz on October 26th in his home of Manchester, England. The  American Munoz is fresh off a win over Tim Boetsch via decision, and Bisping is coming off a victory over Alan Belcher.

Mark Munoz campaigned for a title shot and rematch against Chris Weidman when Anderson Silva initially pushed aside the idea of rematching Weidman for the UFC title. However Munoz will not be getting a title shot and the UFC is going to make the Silva-Weidman 2 bout.

But if Weidman does in fact defat Anderson again, then that opens up the division tremendously. Munoz already had a shot at Weidman and was defeated via knockout, so he won't likely get a crack at him in the near future. However, if both Bisping and Weidman win their next fights a title fight between those two is possible. While I noted that Bisping would make for a good challenger for the title against Bisping, I detected some eye-rolling from colleagues of mine on the matter, but not sure why. Styles make fights and Bisping is a solid style against most challengers at middleweight, including Chris Weidman. Michael Bisping has a very strong ability to get back up when taking down and is a solid striker: he punches others and is hard to hit. That's pretty much the name of the game. He has losses to Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, and Rashad Evans, but they were all close fights. His KO to Dan Henderson was devastating, as the fight with Vitor Belfort was a tough pill to swallow. But Bisping did well in the second round against Hendo and was doing quite well against Vitor Belfort, but ultimate the speed and power and accuracy proved to be too much as the Brazilian scored the big KO with a headkick. But Bisping's strong cardio, the fact he gets stronger as the fight progresses, scrambles well off his back, and picks up tendencies and adapts to fighters' styles as the bout goes one, makes him a good challenger against Weidman. But first he has to get past Mark Munoz, who is reinvigorated and ready to make a title run of his own.

Weidman has great wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, and his striking has come a long way too. Bisping however has good takedown defense, and amazing skills getting back to his feet. The English fighter's striking is very strong and his cardio is so good that he gets better as the fight goes on, because his opponents usually fade. Would be an interesting fight with Chris Weidman.

3. Conor McGregor

Ireland's Conor McGregor has made a huge name for himself at featherweight, and is looking to take the 145 pound division in the UFC by storm. The affable Irish fighter has a strong belief in himself, is obsessed with mixed martial arts and improving, has a very calm mindset in the cage, has exceptional talent and work ethic. The Irish fighter is destined for big things in the UFC.
