In Karate, it's written as it is Karate-Do, "Do" is the way. In Judo, "do" is the way.  The way is the philosophy. Respect people, don't step over your principles. To persist, because adversities will be along the entire way. Sometimes you lose someone you love, sometimes you can't get what you want when you want. It's important to realize that the way will lead you. And the way will lead you on your path not only inside the competition, but in your life.
